33 weeks

Wow! I can't believe that tomorrow will be 33 weeks along in this pregnancy. I can't imagine having a little baby girl soon to cuddle and hold. We still haven't decided on a name, which JW thinks makes it seem "less real" that it will happen soon. A few weeks ago he said we were going to decide by the end of the weekend... obviously that didn't happen. Being back at work has been keeping me pretty busy, although we did have another long weekend here. The temperatures were sooooo cold we were stuck inside all the time. Luke and I are hanging out on our own now and he is keeping me entertained in the evenings. He is talking a lot about Daddy and he just started saying things like "Wuuuuv Ewwwwwwwww!" for "I love you!" so that has been nice for JW to hear on the phone. My friend Kati came up to visit us with her son Seth on Monday. We had a nice lunch with the boys and they played around for the afternoon. Luke wasn't too willing to share his footballs and basketballs but for the most part they got along! I just got an e-mail saying Seth is now throwing up and to be on the alert so I am hoping Luke and I also don't get sick this week.
Luke now loves to color and draw with pens. He mostly wants me to draw footballs, football helmets, basketballs, basketball hoops.... sometimes an airplane but always goes back to "hoops!" He scribbles around and that is cute to watch and have him ask me to draw things for him. He is so impressed with my limited talent!

He also started playing with his trains more and more. He says the cutest "All aboard!!" in a sing songy voice without the a on aboard said. He loves pointing out "girls" and "guys" on TV or when we go someplace. His other favorite thing to label is "creepy" (keepy) which would be anything that's a little scary or weird looking that he sees. I am just waiting for the day where we are in public and I hear "Creepy.. Guy ...Mustache". Mustaches are also a favorite topic of discussion. It's amazing what a little 21 month old mind comes up with and remembers from day to day. I love watching him grow and develop his language skills.
If you hadn't noticed already I finally got a chance to personalize the blog more and I think it looks pretty cute right now! I am learning how to change and add things all the time and I get pretty excited about it. It's still pretty plain but I am impressed with anything I manage to figure out. Do you like the colors and the changes???
I wish I could think of a more creative blog title but for now this is all I can come up with...

2009

Happy 2009!
We have had a busy week here since Christmas. Some good news is that I passed my 3 hour glucose test so I do not have to worry about having gestational diabetes! I had another doctor's appt. where everything measured good and no concerns. JW even went along so he got to hear the heartbeat as well. We still don't have a name picked out yet. We were getting ready for JW to be gone on the road for at least a month and then his work called and said the trip was postponed/cancelled (not sure if it will happen at a later date). So we were relieved but then again it brings uncertainty with his job and he could still end up going later on. So we will see what happens!

We had a lot of nice family time together over the holidays since JW had more days off than usual. Luke's been having a great time at home and also going to Nana's a lot and Aunt Amy's to play with cousins. Hopefully it won't be too shocking to him to get back into a normal routine! I know it will be hard for me to get up early tomorrow and head to work. :)

I am starting to sort through Luke's old baby clothes and try to see what I have that can be used for a girl as well. We got out his old baby seat that vibrates and plays music and he liked sitting in it with his ba-ba and blankie just as much as he did when he was tiny!

I wasn't sure what to do for bedding/decorating the baby room and since it is still in demolition it is hard to imagine. I didn't really want to spend a lot of money for all the coordinated stuff we don't really need, but last night at Babies R Us I found a set that was on clearance (and then it rang up 30% off the clearance price too)! So I didn't feel as guilty buying it and then things will match and I think it will look cute. It is white, pink, and red with little flowers on the sheets and bumper. Of course we don't have all the items in the picture but we do have sheets, crib bumper, crib skirt, comforter/ blanket, and curtain that will match.
We still have a lot to do in the room before it can be painted and really ready to be decorated. JW is busy hammering and drilling right now as I type. Hopefully, we will make good progress on it in the next 9 weeks!

Kompletely Kompagnes

My husband and I met on the internet back in 1998. I was just about to graduate high school in the US and he was working and living in Holland. We "chatted" using ICQ, visited each other every 6 months or so and then 3 years later became engaged. We were married on a beach just outside of Honolulu and started a life while I was still in college at Purdue University. J.W. is an electrician and I am a speech language pathologist. We have a 2 year old son named Luke, a 7 month old daughter named Charlotte, and a crazy golden retriever named Cooper. I love all things having to do with blogging, photography, travel, hiking, celebrity gossip, babywearing, child language development, and how to raise young children!
